Sydney and Melbourne’s famed FISHBOWL turns to Bondi Beach for new dine-in and takeaway fish shop.

Just in time for summer 2021, FISHBOWL’s founders Nathan Dalah, Nic Pestalozzi and Casper Etterlson are taking their empire to one of Sydney’s famed beaches, Bondi Beach, for a brand new dine-in and takeaway venue, FISH SHOP.

Having opened its doors on Monday 21 December, FISH SHOP is FISHBOWL’s modern seafood takeaway haven focusing on sustainably sourced produce, vibrant salads, contemporary vegetables dishes and, of course, a counter-service restaurant. Teeming with Sydney’s best suppliers, the menu encourages diners to pair their fish with FISH SHOP’s range of house-made condiments, sides, salads and vegetables.

And, just in time for Sydney’s recent COVID-19 restrictions, FISH SHOP also offers take-away and cook-at-home options that can be picked up in-store or pre-ordered online.

“We figured – people love food when it’s simple, clean, healthy and feels great. Could we create a new restaurant experience whereby instead of a traditional menu we simply feature market-fresh seafood paired with chef-driven condiments, salads and vegetables? It’s simple, clean, healthy and delivers insane value,” says co-Founder Nathan Dalah.

The concept for FISH SHOP came about after a desire to find a place to eat in Bondi Beach that is equally healthy, serves fresh seafood, has a relaxed in-store vibe and, most importantly, doesn’t break the bank.

With over 14 years experience, leading the FISH SHOP’s kitchen is head chef Joel Bennett (PIER, Bistrode CBD, Three Blue Ducks, Peppes) who has worked closely with Dalah, Pestalozzi and Ettelson to design and create a dynamic and health-driven experience for Sydneysiders.

Inspired by the Mediterranean and coastal Middle Eastern cuisine, this modern take on restaurant and bar meets old-fashioned fish shop, looks to be Bondi’s ultimate pairing for a hot summer’s day whether you’ve spent it surfing waves or clocking off after a long day at work.

The dine-in menu features freshly shucked oysters, anchovy toast and an array of delicious cured fish plates, while FISH SHOP’s takeaway menu allows customers to pick, pay and picnic with their carefully curated goods in takeaway form. Select from either the FISH BOX ($25) which includes a choice of fish main and a condiment with any salad or side; or for a lighter lunch option, the LUNCH BOX ($19) is the perfect midday pick-me-up with FISH SHOP’s hot smoked trout, salmon gravlax or tuna confit with any salad, crostini, pickles and house-made labneh.

Set to crash waves on Bondi Beach’s already thriving food and drink scene, Sydneysiders can surf into the FISH SHOP for a scrumptious selection of seafood.
