Sydney’s Top Barber Shops
Choosing a good barber is like choosing a good doctor.
When we go to the barber, the ultimate outcome we hope for is a good haircut or a nicely trimmed beard. Sometimes we want a quick scrape and snip, and other times we want to get pampered and spoiled. There’s no doubt that Sydneysiders are loaded with choice, with plenty of cool barber shops to trim down that forest atop your head or mow the lawn on your chin. Thankfully, Hunter and Bligh are here to help.
In our list of eight, we’ve picked barber shops that are the most efficient, the ones that really go out of their way to spoil you, and the quirky salons that are just a little bit extra. Come along and let us help you tame that sprouting shrub!
Mister Chop Shop
Mister Chop Shop describes itself as “a sacred masculine enclave”, and we can’t say it better ourselves! From floor to ceiling, this barber shop envelopes all the necessary requirements of manhood, with a good dash of suave, style and pizzazz. Not only will you leave with a well-trimmed face and head, but you’ll stroll out the door knowing it.
Experience in cutting hair and trimming beards is one thing, but giving exceptional customer service is a whole new ball game. Mr Wolf, like all the other barbers on our list, exceeds in both. With lively music playing all day long, along with cold tinnies while you wait, you will be treated like a god.
Broadway Barber Shop
If all you’re looking for is a quick snip, buzz or scrape, then look no further than the Broadway Barber Shop. Some places like to focus on the ‘pampering’ which may take a little longer than anticipated; but at Broadway Barber Shop, you can get the quick (yet quality) treatment and be on your way in no time. Don’t forget to have a good chat, though, they’re barbers, after all!
Are you a coffee fiend? Then have we got a treat for you! Just like Mr Wolf and some of our other picks, these guys offer you free drinks while you wait. How about a freshly brewed coffee, or even a crisp chilled beer? This cruisy hole-in-the-wall feels like a biker’s haven but is really open to anyone sporting untamed hair.
At Sydney Barbers, there is no mucking around here; just hop in the chair, tell them what you want, have a good chat and leave looking smart and feeling like a 10! As one reviewer wrote on their facebook page: “If you want to get laid, get a cut from these pros.”
The guys at Men’s Biz are not just experienced, but they are excellent at explaining the intricacies of your hair and head, and what styles work best for you. Which means if you’re indecisive, this is your light at the end of the tunnel. They also sell a wide range of men’s grooming products, including stuff for your wild eyebrows.
The Barber Shop
It’s a bar and a barber shop all rolled into one, which means you have no excuse when people ask you to come out for drinks and your hair needs a fix. Simply say, “I’ll meet you at The Barber Shop.” Just be sure to get tipsy after your cut, and not before. When you finish, head next door and grab a cocktail!
The Happy Sailors
Now here is a barber shop with a more relaxing and casual atmosphere. At The Happy Sailor, you’ll be treated to a stark white interior with lots of sailor art and photography cladding the walls. It’ll be like a trip back to the 60s, featuring the iconic red, white and blue spinning pole out front.
