Australia, say goodbye to expensive dermatologist visits and hello to vibrant skin with Boost Lab’s new online facial consultation service, Skin Advisor!

When it comes to our skin we all want to be looking and feeling our best. But with so many products on the market, it can be daunting trying to find the right one for you, especially without blowing the budget!

Admittedly, for most of us, the issue is usually finding the right products to help our skincare concerns without throwing countless hours (and money) at those expensive dermatologist visits.

Thankfully, Boost Lab has announced the launch of a more inclusive and consumer-friendly system for Aussies. Not only do they create amazing, light-weight and simple products, but Australia’s newest, up-and-coming skincare brand have now released a free online facial consultation service called ‘Skin Advisor’ to help with all your skin concerns!

A free online tool available on the Boost Lab website, Skin Advisor helps you find the right products for your skin by aligning your skin concerns with targeted serums from their range.

And with Skin Advisor’s ability to tailor products to your concerns, there’s no telling how much time and money you’ll save! That’s right, no more standing in the skincare aisle aimlessly staring!

In less than a minute, Skin Advisor is able to provide a personalised skincare regime thanks to a carefully curated skin metrics system, artificial intelligence and expert algorithms to determine an overall skin health score.

So, of course, we just had to put Boost Lab’s Skin Advisor to the test…

How to Use Boost Lab’s Skin Advisor:

Thanks to our friends at Boost Lab, I have had the pleasure of testing the ‘Skin Advisor’ to show Australian skincare lovers just how easy it is to use!

Firstly, after heading to the Boost Lab website and selecting their new Skin Advisor tool, I answered a few basic questions around my skin health and concerns. From here, in my skin assessment I noted that I had combination skin and wanted to fix my dark circles, eye-bags and blemishes. As well as that, excess oil and acne is something I have had issues with for quite some time so I wanted those to be a top priority for my assessment.

Next, I was then asked to share my city to allow for UV, humidity and pollution assessments to be done. These levels often affect our skin’s health more than we realise, especially pollution – which is a major contributor to acne and blemishes.

Finally I was asked to share a photo of my skin. I just took a quick selfie using my phone camera and uploaded it to the website before submitting my assessment for evaluation.

Of course, if you aren’t comfortable with sharing a photo of yourself to the website, Skin Advisor can still go ahead and create a personalised assessment. Though it is a more in-depth experience with a photo of yourself, there is an option to select what your skin looks like and the areas of these concerns if you would prefer. However, Boost Lab does delete all the photos instantly and all skin assessments are kept anonymous so your privacy is kept!

Once finished, the Skin Advisor assessment had been completed and I instantly received my results. Firstly, I received a skin health report out of 100 percent which indicates whether your skin health is ‘ok’, ‘good’ or ‘excellent’. Ranked as good, Boost Lab then recommended three products – Vitamin C Brightening Serum, Vitamin B3 Blemish Rescue Serum and Retinol Night Renewal Serum – that are based on my concerns, health result and the incredible facial-recognition system.

After being sent the three Boost Lab products, for the next 14 days I trialled Skin Advisor’s recommendations to see whether or not it worked. Here’s what I thought:

Skin Advisor’s Recommended Products:

Vitamin C Brightening Serum

Vitamin C Brightening Serum

Recommended for my dark spots and dull, dry skin patches, Boost Lab’s Brightening Serum creates bright and glowing skin, fixes uneven skin tones and reduces dark spots. A super boost of Vitamin C, the Brightening Serum uses a combination of and Vitamin B3 to create an antioxidant defense from UV and pollution, as well as support the production of collagen and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. I found this serum to be a really good all-rounder product. It kept my skin hydrated and helped to even out my skin tone, particularly around my eyes. It’s a light-weight product and blends well with moisturiser, SPF and make-up which is a plus. It’s a really great beginner’s product and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a starter serum.

Vitamin B3 Blemish Rescue Serum

I was recommended this product for my blemishes, dark spots and uneven skin tone. Boost Lab’s Blemish Rescue Serum creates blemish-free skin by targeting excess oils, reducing the appearance of pores and soothing redness and uneven tones. This serum uses Vitamin B3 and Zinc to target excess sebum – a major contributor to blemishes and acne – and create an invisible lining to protect from pollutants. Since using this product I have found my skin to be quite hydrated and soft, without the excess oil I usually encounter. I also found my pores to be reduced and for the size and redness of my blemishes to be less noticeable – basically less of an eye-sore which is fantastic! Like the brightening serum, this serum is light-weight and easily blends with moisturiser, SPF and make-up. It has no sticky after feel and gives my skin a lovely overall glow. I will definitely be continuing to use this serum in my daily routine!

Retinol Night Renewal Serum

Retinol Night Renewal Serum

I was recommended this serum for my dark spots, uneven skin tone and wrinkles. Boost Lab’s Night Renewal Serum is used to actively fight the signs of ageing by hydrating and illuminating the skin. This serum uses Retinol (Vitamin A) to reduce skin damage by improving skin hydration, re-balancing uneven skin complexions and invigorating the skin’s firmness and elasticity. This serum was by far my favourite of the three I tried. Since incorporating Retinol into my skin routine, my skin has since felt soft and hydrated, with many of my visible fine lines reducing in appearance. I’ve also noticed a few of my acne scars reducing in size too which is amazing! This serum is light-weight, easy to apply and blends well with moisturiser, making it the perfect serum to chuck on before bed. This serum is quite possibly a life saver, 10 out of 10 from me!

Overall, my experience could not have been more simple! Paired with Boost Lab’s incredible range, I would highly recommend Skin Advisor to anyone who is looking to update their skincare routine.
