With all gelato handcrafted from scratch, the team behind Gusto Gelato create small fresh batches using traditional artisan production techniques to create the perfect scoop of gelato. With 20 flavours to choose from you’ll be sure to find your dream flavour. And for those of us who are Nutella fiends, you’ll be glad to hear there’s Nutella on tap. Repeat, on tap. For your visit to Gusto Gelato we recommend trying the Pistachio, the Strawberry and Dark Chocolate or the Gusto that’s made with roasted peanut gelato with a chocolate fudge ripple and chunks of chocolate fudge brownie. Plus, you can even order a scoop or two on Uber Eats.
It may look like one of Perth’s trendy bars, but instead of cocktails and DJs, you’ll find a vibrant and varied palette of gelato and sorbet with 20 flavours on rotation! The moody blue gelateria is sprinkled with colourful neon and silver inspired ’80’s Devo-esque’ gelato lids. All the gelato is churned daily and made using the freshest ingredients to ensure the greatest gelato possible. With new wave flavours and concoctions on offer it’s hard to say what to pick! These include Malted Milk Cornflake Cookie, Lavender Honeycomb and Cold Brew. And for all of the dessert lovers out there, Chicho Gelato also features a free-flowing chocolate tap and they also serve up in-house made limited-edition treats.
Jersey Jack Gelato
Thought gelato could only be inspired by Italy? Think again. Jersey Jack Gelato originated in Kuala Lumpur and has since blessed us in Western Australia. The quirky gelateria still pays homage to Italy by using traditional Italian artistry and some of the freshest ingredients possible to make their drool-worthy scoops. Using only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients from a range of local farmers and retailers, after one taste you’ll understand all of the hype. With ever-changing flavours there are endless decisions to be made, however you can’t go past their signature Coconut gelato! If you’re feeling adventurous? Then we dare you to try the Durian gelato, which is so special it’s only available Friday through to Sunday.
Whisk Creamery doesn’t simply stop at delicious traditional gelato. They also offer soft serve gelato, Unicorn Ice Cream and Mermaid Gelato. Curious? So were we and we weren’t disappointed. The Italian family business first opened in Subiaco in 2014, however stems back from a small town in Italy called Aosta. Making all of their menu items in store – from the meringues to the sauces, toppings, cronuts, gelatos, waffles, gourmet milkshakes and ice-cream fish cones complete with unicorn cones – Whisk Creamery do it all. We recommend giving the award-winning London Fog – Earl Grey Vanilla a try. And definitely grab a crunchy fish cone – simply for the novelty!
The Milk Barrel
The Milk Barrel is a crowd favourite and why wouldn’t it be?! They’ve won awards for their small batch artisanal gelato which is handcrafted from scratch, so you know you’re in for a special treat. With new and exotic flavours continually popping up, you’ll never be short of something different. The team at Milk Barrel are definitely not afraid to shake things up, and they truly understand what their customers want… wine-infused gelato anyone?! For those of us who enjoy a drink or two we highly recommend the Barossa Shiraz or Italian Prosecco, or if you’re more of a spirits person the Bourbon Pecan Pie or Mojito Sorbet.
This craft gelateria in Fremantle sources all their ingredients from local farmers and producers in south west Australia. Better yet, they also boast the largest flavour archive in the whole country, so you know you’re guaranteed to taste something new here every time. Flavours include all the classics and some you’ve never even dreamed of, including Honey Soy Sauce, Redskin Vodka, Rum Drunk Lamington and Black Truffle with white chocolate. If you’re always on the go, look out for their solar-powered ice cream van which serves out these eclectic scoops at festivals and events.
