Australia, celebrate World Chocolate Day 2021 with an out-of-this-world, limited-edition dessert release.

They say that good things come to those that wait. So when two dessert gods collaborate, you know that it’s going to be legendary.

Just how all of the chocolate lovers out there would agree, when World Chocolate Day rolls around (Wednesday 07 July) we expect nothing short of decadent, mouthwatering, life-changing goodies. And, to tease our tastebuds, two of Australia’s most loved dessert brands, Koko Black and the guys behind the renowned Strawberry Watermelon Cake (Black Star Pastry), have joined forces to create a limited-edition creation, the Meteor Cake.

An out-of-this-world creation to say the least, Koko Black and Black Star Pastry’s Meteor Cake is just that. Just picture this: resting on a bed of dark chocolate financier and cocoa nibs, chocolate lovers will find luscious layers of caramel chocolate, Muscovado sponge, hazelnut cremeux, a gravity defying chocolate mousse and, to top it all off, a praline crunch.

Despite its layers of love, the Meteor Cake has been made to be delicately balanced whilst also producing a combination of chocolatey goodness of galactic proportions. Say no more.

Of course in true Koko Black and Black Star Pastry form, the show doesn’t stop there. Sitting atop the already legendary Meteor Cake is a flying meteor formed from hazelnut truffle and a coat of black cocoa nibs complete with a blazing Sao Thome chocolate flame and crumbled cocoa nib rubble.

A heavenly mouthful you’ll definitely want to indulge in, from the lower layer of praline crunch reminiscent of the textures of the moon to the carved jet-stream of chocolate that brings the meteor’s crashing effect to life, the Meteor Cake is an explosion of flavours and sends chocolate lovers into a black hole of all things divine.

A collaboration between two masterminds, Black Star’s Group head pastry chef Arnaud Vodounou and Koko Black’s head chocolatier Remco Brigou wanted to team up to create something quintessentially indulgent and decadent, yet silky and light for World Chocolate Day 2021.

Brigou says, “The key for both Arnaud and I when developing the concept for the cake was for it to feel like a true collaboration, so the cake is made from a premium selection of our Koko Black chocolate, including our indulgent 70% Sao Thome single origin chocolate and hazelnut praline, creatively spun into a signature Black Star Pastry masterpiece.”

So how do you buy Koko Black and Black Star Pastry’s Meteor Cake? This heavenly chocolate cake is available for one day only on Wednesday 07 July 2021 in limited supply and pick-up only at $15 a slice or $55 for a four-portioned sized cake.
