From the longest pub crawl to speed eaters, the tallest living woman, Tony Bennett and even headstands. Australia is now on track to set the record straight this October.

When we think of the best extra virgin olive oil, naturally we think of Cobram Estate – the Australian grown and made, award-winning brand that sizzles up the shelves across the country.

Starting off as a family investment in the heart of Victoria; now, the team has decided to set the record straight this October 2021 with the worlds biggest virtual olive oil tasting.

Going for the gold, the event hopes to beat the original Guinness World Record which was won back in May 2009 where 12,909 people gathered in Jaen, Spain for the biggest olive oil tasting event.

Inspired by Aussie athletes at the Tokyo Olympics, Cobram Estate now wants your help to bring the gold home for Australia. “It’s been a tough 18 months for everyone, but we saw what an uplifting occasion the Olympics was for Australians, particularly those who were in lockdown,” said McGavin.

“We thought it would be great to get as many people as possible involved in an event where they could go for gold too, and the idea of a world-record tasting began to form.”

With COVID-19 restrictions still in place across most of Australia, Cobram Estate knew that a virtual event would be best solution to try and get more than 13,000 Aussies to join in.

Participants of the virtual olive oil tasting event will receive a home-delivered Cobram Estate kit which includes a four-pack of 50mL tasting oils, official tasting cups, olive leaf teas and exclusive online offers.

As for the event itself, Australians are advised to bring along some bread and dark chocolate to then be joined by Cobram’s chief oil maker Leandro Ravetti, co-founder Rob McGavin as well as Dr Joanna McMillan. Here you’ll be led through food pairings, health benefits and a live Q&A session.

Plus, to help drizzle some happiness on to your year, Cobram Estate will also be giving away a years supply of their Extra Virgin Olive Oil to 10 lucky participants as well as 10 limited edition bottles of their Ultra-Premium Hojiblanca ‘Liquid Gold’.

Although registering to join in for the virtual olive oil tasting event has now closed, you can still show your support by following the journey on Cobram Estate’s Instagram page by using the hashtag #GoForGoldWithCobram
