Let’s not forget they did win Best Gelato in the World for their Mandorla Affogato flavour back in 2014 in Rimini, Italy – now that’s saying something. The only downside is that everyone knows about it, so be prepared to wait a while, but oh boy it’s worth it. With 25+ flavours to try you’ll be sure to find your favourite. We recommend the Turkish Delight, Strawberry and Balsamic, Passionfruit Cream or any of the seasonal sorbets on offer.
If you haven’t had Messina, you are missing out big time! Messina have taken the title of Masters of Gelato, rolling out 17 stores across NSW, VIC, QLD and the ACT. They’ve even taken their production to the next level with their own dairy farm producing some of the highest quality Jersey milk, their own Hazelnut Farm in Seymour, Victoria, use an imported Chocolate making machine from Italy and make in house delectable Dulce de Leche. With 35+ classic flavours and a number of insanely creative weekly specials Messina can’t put a step wrong. We recommend the Bounty, Choc Mint, Pistachio and Salted Caramel with White Chocolate!

RivaReno hails from Bologna, the food capital of the world, and brings with them the passion, imagination and skill to create one of the world’s best gelatos. Worried you won’t know what to pick? You should be! There are over 50+ mouthwatering flavours to pick from, so make sure you’ve got yourself an appetite to gorge on as many as possible. Our highlights include the Alice, mascarpone gelato smothered in liquid gianduja (chocolate & hazelnut), bitter Sorbetto al Cioccolato or the Crema Fiorentina, a custard gelato with honey and orange peel.
We have to give a shout out to the family owned store that made us realise that Vegan gelato is just as delicious as the original recipe! Everything is made in-house, from the sustainable coconut milk based gelato, to nut mixes they mill, sauces and dreamy-drizzles that take each flavour to the next level. Everything is fresh and created daily from ripe produce found at the markets. With a vast rainbow of flavours to try from we know you won’t be disappointed. We recommend the Roasted Pistachio, Dulce de Leche and Coconut!
When you think of Fratelli Fresh you think of delicious pizza and pasta, but they are now so much more than that! Tapping into the culinary credentials of Italian-born Head Pastry Chef, Riccardo Falcone, Fratelli Fresh have unleashed 16 heavenly flavours of handcrafted gelato. Using only the freshest of products, each batch of gelato is whipped up daily at the Fratelli Fresh Darling Harbour. Our picks include the Tiramisu, Hazelnut and Raspberry Sorbet.
SPARROW GELATO + ESPRESSO
Here’s a treat for the lower north shore, nestled in the foodie haven of Crows Nest. Sparrow Gelato + Espresso may seem like a quaint cafe in comparison to its previous gelato competition, but boy does it deliver on quality and taste! The cafe offers around 20 delicious, curious and ever-changing flavours of glorious gelato. Think Blood Orange and Rhubarb to Coconut-Pandan, accompanied by their staple classics like Chocolate or Vanilla. They are also known for their unusual sorbets, and if you’re up for a treat try the Gin n Tonic for your late night fix. Our top picks include the Strawberry Balsamic and Ginger Chili Coconut (if it’s there).
