Wondering what’s on in Melbourne this weekend? How about enjoying views and vibes at Melbourne’s biggest rooftop playground?

The Summertime Social has transformed Federation Square’s Skyline Terrace into Melbourne’s biggest rooftop playground, so if you’re looking for fun in the sun, this is for you! There are cocktails, food trucks and giant Jenga – what more could you want?

Running until April 2020, this free pop-up event is the ultimate adult’s playground. There’s a huge communal lawn where you can set up a picnic rug or compete with your friends in one of the lawn games available to play. Try lane games such as skittles and shuffleboard or relax in one of the luxe retro caravans with Uno or Connect Four. Whatever takes your fancy.

All the games will undoubtedly make you thirsty, but never fear, there’s a large bar with beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. Of course, it wouldn’t be summer without cocktails, and the Summertime Social have put the cocktails on tap! Try an Aperol Spritz, Passionfruit Caprioska or Miami Iced Tea. If it’s extra warm, there are frozen Mango Daiquiris and Margaritas.

You’ll find plenty of food options to enjoy with your drinks. Uber-Eats brand, Dirty Birdie, is offering burgers, fried chicken, salads and a kids menu. There are delicious wood-fired pizzas and a pop-up ice-cream cart serving boozy ice-cream alongside your favourite traditional flavours (because the cocktails weren’t enough, right?)

The Summertime Social is the perfect spot for your next group outing. Huts and luxe converted caravans are available for group bookings, and lane games can be pre-booked for groups of two-six players. There’s also the option to share a delicious picnic basket among your group. These range from $60-$90 and come with all your favourites, including party pies, summer slaw, potato salad, pizza and even lobster rolls.

Expect a tonne of events running across the week, such as live music Friday to Sunday and bottomless brunch on Saturdays. All this considered, plus the Summertime Social’s convenient location – a short walk from Flinders Street Station – there’s no excuse not to visit and enjoy some time acting like a kid again (except with cocktails). Whether you want to party and play games or chill out in the sun, the Summertime Social is the ultimate spot to be this summer!
