Wine Apps for Wine Hunters

Let’s raise a glass to wine apps.

The world of wine can seem impenetrable, and the wine market has become so saturated it can be intimidating to choose a decent drop – but it doesn’t have to be. Fortunately, we’ve grouped together some of the numerous apps out there that will help you make sense of the most¬†esoteric terms so you can find the right wine for any and every occasion.

Many of these apps are available on Android and iOS, and can tell you the ratings and best food pairings.

Delectable

Delectable is arguably one of the best wine apps on the market. Simply upload an image of the bottle’s label and you can view ratings, reviews and prices. This is extremely handy if you want to try a different wine, but are unsure of what to get. Delectable also allows you to view what knowledgeable users are drinking and you can even follow their tasting notes for your own future reference.

A great feature about this app is that you can also keep track of what your friends are drinking with the ability to like and comment on their wine choices.

Delectable is available for free on Android and iOS.

Vivino

Vivino app

Similar to Detectable, Vivino has its own unique features that make it stand out. Vivino boasts a label recognition system that quickly brings up ratings, reviews and tasting notes. You can also view individual wine pages that include more in depth information. Following a major update of the app late last year, you can now explore an extensive wine database consisting of over eight million labels.

To find exactly what you’re after, you can select multiple filters to narrow down the search results. If you’re at a restaurant and want to see the available wine’s ratings, then you can. Simply scan the wine list and Vivino will display ratings and information on the wines.

Vivino is available for free on Android and iOS. A $4.99 per month premium version is also available.

Drync

Drync

Take a quick picture of a wine label to see its pricing, availability, description and ratings with the help of Drync. The app enables you to add your own notes, track your favourite wines and you can even order a bottle directly through the app.

One of the best features about Drync is that you can discover new and amazing wines based on what your friends are recommending. So why not get together and have your own wine-tasting?

Wine-Searcher

The app has an extensive pricing and availability database which allows you to search for a particular vintage wine and see its cost. Similar to other wine apps, Wine-Searcher also has wine label recognition software which displays details about the brand of wine you upload.

Extra features which are exclusive to this app include a personal wine journal and a GPS-based store finder to locate your favourite wines.

Wine-Searcher is available for free on Android and iOS. Pro version available for $49 a year.

Wine Ring

Unlike other wine apps, Wine Ring takes into account your wine ratings and uses this information to generate personalised recommendations. This allows you to discover new wines that you might not have heard of before and might encourage you to taste a wine that you’ve been meaning to try.

In addition, you can look up food pairings, keep a personal log of what wines you’ve sampled and get recommendations based on your friends’ preferences.

Wine Ring is available for free on Android and iOS.
