The city is about to light up once more with the annual celebration of creativity and technology, Vivid Sydney.

Back for its 14th year, Vivid Sydney will be transforming the city with a fusion of art, innovation and technology. Brought to life by musicians, culinary experts and, of course, the world-famous immersive light installations and projections, Vivid Sydney expects to mesmerise visitors with its latest direction focusing on Humanity.

To help you plan your visit with ease, we’ve put together an ultimate guide filled with everything you need to know about Vivid Sydney 2024.

 

When is Vivid Sydney?

Vivid Sydney will run for 23 days from Friday 24 May until Saturday 15 June 2024. The annual immersive light event will be available to experience seven days a week from Monday to Sunday.

The lights at Vivid Sydney 2024 will be turned on from 6pm each night.

 

Where is Vivid Sydney?

Vivid Sydney 2024 will be hosted across multiple locations in Sydney.

Vivid Sydney’s Light Walk, the world-famous street installations, start at the Sydney Opera House, passes through Circular Quay and the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia before going through The Rocks, around Barangaroo, down to Darling Harbour and the Australian National Maritime Museum. Finishing up through Tumbalong Park and Paddy’s Markets, the Vivid Sydney Light Walk ends on the corner of Central Station and Belmore Park.

On top of the Light Walk, there are also a number of events part of Vivid Sydney hosted across the Sydney: Vivid Music and Vivid Food.

Is Vivid Sydney free?

Part of Vivid Sydney’s charm is its expansive selection of both free and paid experiences. For example, the Love Is In The Air drone show, most of the installations along the Light Walk, and live music part of Tumbalong Nights at Tumbalong Park, are free. Moreover, there are ticketed events throughout Vivid Sydney 2024 including a sensory snack and cocktail experience led by chef Peter Gilmore at Bennelong Bar (Aurorae), Dark Spectrum hosted underground within the Wynyard Tunnels, the Golden Age of Humanity Film Festival and even the new sound, speed and sensory Tekno Train to name a few.

For more exclusive experiences, there are plenty of boat tours, restaurant and bar specials as well as accommodation offerings available.

 

How to get to Vivid Sydney?

Due to the large number of visitors Vivid Sydney expects, extra public transport options will be available on weekends to help patrons get to and from Vivid Sydney locations. There will be extensive road closures and parking restrictions in place.

What time is the Vivid Sydney drone show?

Directed by Gill Minervini with music composed by Peewee Ferris, the Vivid Sydney 2024 drone show, Love Is In The Air, will start at 9:10pm on Saturday 08, Sunday 09 and Saturday 15 June 2024.

As advised by the Vivid Sydney team, weather conditions may impact start times of the drone show.
