Sydney’s 7 Alternative NYE Fireworks Displays

I understand. Sydney can get a little hectic on New Year’s Eve. Or perhaps you missed out on tickets for that awesome rooftop party in North Sydney. Or maybe it’s the fact you cannot stomach the idea of taking your kids to Sydney.

But fret not!

I’ve got a list of eight fireworks displays happening outside Sydney that may not be as amazing as the world-renowned one on Sydney Harbour, but are sure to get you home by 1am. Or at least the nearby bar if you wish to continue celebrating.

The party goes on all the way to midnight in Campbelltown on New Years, with a family-friendly event featuring more than just fireworks. There’s plenty of food to nibble through, plenty of music to dance to, and even some rides for the kids too. Best of all, there is Campbelltown Catholic Club across the road to celebrate with drinks after the midnight fireworks.

Parramatta Park, Parramatta

While only hosting a 9pm fireworks display, Parramatta Park will also boast a range of activities and two stages filled with entertainment. There will be food stalls to keep your stomach full and amusement rides to hopefully not empty them. Don’t forget to check out the local bars for the after party.

Penrith Panthers, Penrith

Way out west in Penrith will be “western Sydney’s biggest New Years Eve party” at Penrith Panthers. It will feature two fireworks displays, one at 9pm and the other at midnight. Carnival rides will take over the grounds, giving young and young-at-hearts a thrill, and food stalls will offer an array of food to tickle your tastebuds.

Grand Flaneur Beach, Chipping Norton

Last year’s event hosted for a crowd of over 20,000 people and Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller is hoping this year will be bigger. Local artists are expected to take over the stage, giving this year’s crowd plenty of entertainment. Fireworks shoot off at 9pm.

All the way down south of Sydney in Wollongong is another New Years event. Featuring live music, roving performers, face painting, amusement rides, as well as food and gift stalls, there is plenty to see and do in the lead-up to their fireworks spectacular at 9pm.
