Orange celebrates its cool climate wines once again with the 2017 Orange Wine Festival. Running in late October with 80 individual events, the festival will showcase the region’s best vineyards and cellar doors, as well as the restaurants and produce for which the area is renowned.

Previous highlights will return this year, such as Wine in the Vines – a day-long journey through picturesque vineyards and an all-inclusive lunch; the Orange Wine Show Tasting & Masterclasses; and the Wine and Food Night Market in Robertson Park, where more than 50 food and wine stallholders will showcase their specialties. There are also indigenous cultural experiences, special dinners and lunches, food workshops, live music and family-friendly events.

Destination NSW CEO Sandra Chipchase says events such as the Orange Wine Festival offer visitors a unique opportunity to taste some of Australia’s best wines and fresh produce, while helping the local economy thrive.

“The Orange Wine Festival is proudly supported through our Flagship Event Fund supporting events in regional NSW that have the potential to become key tourism events by attracting overnight visitation,” says Chipchase.

“We look forward to welcoming visitors to the region once again this October for an event that will highlight Orange’s growing appeal as a leading NSW food and wine destination.”

Another previous highlight, The Vino Express, is back again for the 2017 festival. The train, which departs from Sydney Central Station on October 20 and returns on October 22, is the easiest way to get to Orange to ensure a relaxed, stress-free weekend. The Vino Express package includes premium access to festival experiences, two nights accommodation, a sparkling wine breakfast and behind the scenes wine tastings.

Located in the Central West of NSW, Orange is a 3.5-hour drive from Sydney over the Blue Mountains. At an elevation of 600 to 1000 metres, it is the highest wine-growing region in Australia and is fast becoming known as the premier cool climate wine region of New South Wales.
