A puppet show that throws political correctness out the window. Showing through December in the Brisbane Arts Theatre, the musical comedy, Avenue Q is a Tony award winner. Coming off the back of a sold-out regional tour in 2017, the new age musical is a must see for any puppetry or arts fans. Guaranteed laughter and brilliant entertainment will be show.
Christmas in the City
The annual Christmas festival kicks off on the 30th of November and is a mix of light shows/experiences, markets, carols, fireworks and cinema. This ongoing festival is the perfect way to embrace the christmas season. The festival is very much a ‘what you make of it’ kind of event, so try to get to as many movie screenings, light shows and carols as possible to really feel the christmas spirit.
Shania Twain: NOW Tour
The Canadian queen of country-pop music is coming to Brisbane Entertainment Centre, touring in celebration of her third consecutive number one album. The five time grammy award winner will be touring Australia’s shores this December, so make sure to get to the Brisbane stop on this tour to hear some legendary country pop tunes such as ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’ amongst others.
Cheese and Wine - Christmas Edition
Here’s one for all the foodies out there. The Treasury is holding a Christmas edition of their popular 2018 series of events. There will be cheese sampling stations, and wine tastings all across the first floor of the hotel, perfect for a Christmas gathering with friends or loved ones, and a holiday season event not to miss! Who doesn’t want to go to an event of wine and grazing stations?
Queensland Ballet: The Nutcracker
If ballet is for you and you want to get into the christmas spirit, this is the perfect event. The Nutcracker, a magical christmas tale, is the perfect way to welcome the holiday season. With the classic music of Tchaikovsky and Ben Stephenson’s choreography, you can be sure that the production will be incredibly entertaining and showcase some of the finest ballet in Australia.
Woodford Folk Festival
The 33rd year of the Woodford Folk Festival is sure to be a great one. With a super strong lineup including The Cat Empire and Dan Sultan, the festival will be hard to miss. The festival will bring together over 2000 local, national and international performers to it’s Brisbane stage over the 6 Day/Night roster. The festival is not only music, with dance, and children’s festival and ceremonies amongst other things being an important part of the festival’s proceedings. An event not to miss.
New Years Eve Fireworks Spectacular
Over South Bank in Brisbane, a spectacular fireworks show will take place at 8:30 pm and again at midnight.
