Melbourne is taking May by storm.
Regardless of your location or interests, we’ve got your May under control! With everything from a Food Truck Festival, to a Vegan Market, an Underground Cinema held at a secret location and of course, the infamous Good Beer Week an extravaganza of beer, food and entertainment (Friday 11 – Sunday 20).
If you haven’t put on 5 kilos by the end of the month – you obviously haven’t done May right.
Food Truck Festival
You had us at food. For four days, Birrarung Marr will transform into a food truck haven. With over 40 food trucks available, there’s no doubt that you’ll be able to devour all of the cheese, vegan cuisine, a tonne of beer and fried chicken. Food coma guaranteed.
Mould: A Cheese Festival
Cheese lovers unite! The first weekend of May will see the Meat Market transform into a two-day cheese and wine extravaganza. Cheese producers from Yarra Valley Dairy, Shaw River, Section 28 and many more will be flocking to Melbourne to show off their cheese. The festival will include showcases of produce, demonstrations, as well as masterclasses.
Dog Lovers Show
For two days only, Melbourne will be blessed with a Dog Lovers Show. YOU CAN MEET OVER 500 DOGS. Do I really need to sell you this? But there’ll be shows, stalls and talks from expert speakers and celebrity vets. Pre-purchase tickets to save time – this will be a paw-tastic day for the entire family. Only downside, the dogs can’t come home with you.
High Country Harvest
The High Country Harvest festival is a foodie must. Hosted in various locations around Victoria, the 17-day festival cannot be missed. With over 50 events included; you’ll drink, eat, laugh and learn. This is the perfect place to feast and forage your way around Victoria. What better way to top the week off with Espresso Martinis! Every Sunday throughout May, from 2pm onwards, The Park Hotel in Werribee will be hosting Espresso Sundays. With 10 different flavours available, you’ll want to try them all. From a classic blend, to salted caramel and even cherry ripe. YUM!
A Night with Hilary Clinton
The woman opposing President Trump in the 2016 election is coming to Melbourne. The infamous Hilary Clinton will be hosting her own event at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre to talk about women in politics and defeating obstacles throughout her life. Get your tickets ASAP!
Heide Makers Market
Nestled in the grassy fields of surrounding Heide Museum of Modern Art Sculpture Park, you’ll find Heide Makers Market. The free entry event is an exhibit of locally produced art and treats which are all for purchase. The day is definitely recommended for the entire family to walk around and find some goodies. Afterwards visitors are more than welcome to walk around the 15 acre property discovering the 30+ sculptures or visiting the Museums permanent collection of exhibits.
Big Vegan Market
Possibly the biggest vegan market Melbourne will ever see. This two day event is a definite must-not-miss for any vegan or all round foodie out there. With over 200 stalls for patrons to enjoy; every product sold has a 110% guarantee that it’s animal and cruelty free. With everything from food and drink stalls, fashion, craft and skin care – the Big Vegan Market has it all. Keep an eye out for Ace Cookies and Smoothie Bombs.
Burger and beer lovers this ones for you! Royal Stacks has teamed up with Victorian brewer Quiet Deeds for Good Beer Week in Melbourne. For two hours on Monday they’ll be hosting a sit-down dinner serving slider burgers and a mouthwatering dessert – all matched with five of Quiet Deeds best beers of course. Need I say more? “Burgers and beers have always been a match made in heaven,” says Royal Stacks owner Dani Zeini.
Nestled in one of Melbourne’s laneways is the infamous Yokocho Japanese restaurant. Taking part in Good Beer Week festivities, guests can expect a one-night event that cannot be missed. How does bottomless golden tempura teamed up with a range of Japanese craft beers sound? Amazing, especially at the price of $65 per person. The event will take place on Yokocho’s rooftop/open air balcony between 6 – 8pm. Monday doesn’t sound so bad after all.
La Fiera Italian Festival
Myrtleford will be hosting the 2018 La Fiera Italian Festival. Over six days, expect fantastic Italian wine and food available for it’s 10th year. Apart from the obligatory food coma there’ll also be heritage displays, pasta and coffee master classes, traditional cultural delights, entertainment and activities for children. Eat Street Melbourne
Attention all Melbourne Foodies! Eat Street Melbourne is a one night only event. From 6pm onwards you’ll be able to enjoy a wide range of food served by Melbourne’s best chefs and Australia’s top-notch wine and beverage suppliers.
