International Women’s Day Events Around Australia
Balance for Better this International Women’s Day.
This year for International Women’s Day 2019, venues across Australia will be hosting an array of events for all guests to engage in. Starting from Thursday 7 through to Saturday 9 March, Sydneysiders, Melbournians, Hobartians, Perthlings and Brisbanites will be able to participate in various events within their city – from outdoor cinemas, luncheons and high teas.
This year’s campaign theme is #BalanceforBetter – where a balanced world is a better world. ‘The day commemorates and celebrates women’s achievements, raises awareness against bias and take action for equality.’
Australian Heritage Hotel Tap Takeover
This Friday, The Australian Heritage Hotel in The Rocks will have a total tap takeover. Supporting the achievements of the women within the industry, the hotel will be collaborating with Australian brewers led by an all exclusive female lineup. Keep an eye out for Two Birds Brewing, Philter Brewing, Capital Brewing Co. and Modus Operandi Brewing Co.. On top of that, The Australian Heritage Hotel will also be donating proceeds donated within their weekly Friday raffles to Pink Boots – a charity that supports women in the beer industry. You might even win a meat or fruit tray.
Tayim Te’ena Daiquiri
What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than at Tayim – Sydney’s finest Middle Eastern bar and restaurant. Located along Nurses Walk in The Rocks, Tayim is known for their impeccable menu including an expansive cocktail list. This International Women’s Day, Tayim has released a Te’ena Daiquiri filled with 3-Star Plantation Rum, Homemade Fig Puree & Citrus. Throughout the day, $2 from each cocktail sold will go directly to not-for-profit organisation, Dress For Success which empowers women and provides support through networking, professional attire and development tools.
Women in Beer, Wine and Spirits
Hosted by Cellarmasters and BWS, this International Women’s Day, Sydneysiders can show their support by attending a festival celebrating female winemakers, brewers and distillers. Over the two days, drink lovers can opt to meet some of Australia’s and New Zealand’s finest female creators within the industry. During the duration of the festival, there’ll be up to 30 winemakers, distillers and brewers serving up samples. Keep an eye out for Pepper Tree Wines, Two Birds Brewing, Applewood Distillery and Modus Operandi. Tickets include unlimited free tastings from all of the producers, a tasting glass to keep and entertainment. Bookings essential.
QV Melbourne Outdoor Cinema
What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than by watching the queen of the screen – Wonderwoman. This Friday, QV Square will be transformed into its largest ever event. For two hours prior to the film, guests can enjoy a lineup of females within the entertainment industry. Expect Geraldine Hickey, Mama Alto, Glitter & Snatch and many more. As the sun has just set, ticketholders will be able to enjoy the 2017 release starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and Robin Wright created by the renowned DC Comics. Expect everything from action to love.
Hosted at the Improv Conspiracy Training Centre and Theatre, this International Women’s Day, the Heralayan Salt Lamps will be paying tribute. The benefit show will be brought together by a full female comedy cast – with all proceeds going to WIRE, an inclusive women’s resource centre. On top of the improvised, incredible performances there’ll also be a raffle, giveaways and special cocktails for guests to enjoy throughout the evening. Girls Dig Dinosaurs
Over two hours at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery in Hobart guests will be able to engage in hands-on activities and discussions with scientists – all promoting the role of women in science and technology, in particular, palaeontology and science communications. Co-hosted by TMAG, the two-hour event has been designed specifically for young women and girls from eight years old and up – Girls Dig Dinosaurs is the perfect family outing this International Women’s Day. On top of that, there’ll also be a panel of speakers including TedX speaker, Dr Caitlin Syme from Queensland – an Australian palaeontologist.
International Women’s Day at Society Salamanca
What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than at Society Salamanca. Located in Hobart’s Battery Point, Society Salamanca boasts in everything from meticulous cocktails, to gin, whisky and everything in between – all led by a female owned and operated small business. Employing fierce females and magnificent men, this International Women’s Day, group together all the finest women you know and head down to Society to enjoy two gins for the price of one! International Women’s Day Luncheon
This International Women’s Day, Crown Perth in Burswood will be hosting an impeccable luncheon over three hours. Inside of their elegant ballroom, the luncheon is supported by Programmed for their annual event. Hosted by Dean Clairs and Kymba Cahill from Mix 94.5’s The Big Breakfast. Guests will be presented with a three course lunch accompanied by beverages paired with live entertainment. On top of that, visitors will also have the opportunity to listen to other inspirational female leaders in the sporting and media industries.
What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than at Rooftop Movies in Northbridge. Sitting amongst the rooftops with jaw-dropping views of Northbridge’s city skyline, guests can enjoy their International Women’s Day watching the much beloved, all powerful, female cast, 2004, New York Minute film. Starring the iconic Olsen Twins, guests will endeavour through their journey of drama and love all within New York. Doors open at 6pm with the feature film starting at 8pm – expect iconic sunset views too!
International Women’s Day High Tea
The Greek Club will be hosting an all-inclusive International Women’s Day High Tea this Thursday 7 March. Found in South Brisbane, over three hours guests will be able to immerse themselves in an indulgent high tea on the immaculate Grand Balcony that overlooks the city skyline. Tickets for the high tea includes a modern selection of sweet and savoury delights, cocktails upon arrival as well as a three-hour beverage package. On top of that, there will also be raffle draws throughout the duration of the event, live entertainment and more. Proceeds throughout the day will go towards funding lifesaving cancer research through Project Pink – a breast cancer initiative of the PA Research Foundations.
