5.8 Underwater Restaurant
The Maldives speciality is the ocean, so why not create a space in which you can eat and enjoy all in the midst of it? 5.8 is located underneath Hurawahli Resort and is the largest underwater restaurant in the world. The fine dining restaurant is iconic due to its gracious location and inventive dishes for lunch and dinner. Menus are indicative and can vary based on season and chef’s current culinary inspiration – however they are always gastronomic pleasures. Underwater dining is the experience of a lifetime and yours for the taking.

The W Maldives
The pulsating outdoor lounge on the island’s southwest end completes any fabulous day with breathtaking sunset views, Indian Ocean breezes and the soothing rhythm of lapping waves. The W Maldives serves freshly shucked oysters, sushi and caviar, which are paired with the extensive wine and champagne list. The W allows you to mingle under the golden sunshine or spectacular starlight as their mixologists serve signature cocktails and a DJ plays relaxing beats.
Underwater Playground Subsix
We mentioned an underwater restaurant, so there had to be an underwater bar. To reach Subsix, one must travel by speedboat and descend a dramatic three-tier staircase. Italian abstract chandeliers illuminate the descent like shining coral, and the clam-inspired bar shines from the soft waves of capiz shells draped from the ceiling. Experience Parrotfish swim past shoals of Moorish Idols and Moray eels slide through the lagoon while you sip on your favourite drink.
An al fresco lounge that encourages barefoot dining on white sands, with cocktails in hand and lounging on plush bean bags as the only way to do it. A drifting ceiling of clouds and the warm sun shines down as you relax with not a care in the world. As night falls, a beach club stirs and suddenly you go from relation to party as the DJ sends chilled beats through sea breeze.
Enjoy the nature
The Maldives is an activity haven. A place where the resorts allow you to play sports such as tennis and badminton. Not to mention, the walks around the island are endlessly interesting and picturesque. The water sports are just as exciting, with activities such as windsurfing, catamaran sailing, kayaking, kite surfing, glass-bottom boats and jet skiing. Not to mention, of course, the snorkelling and scuba diving, which is a chance to explore the beauty and wonder of the world beneath the water.
It is hard to get more luxurious than a spa, and a spa in the Maldives? The spa is a great way to take your relaxation even further, and enjoy your tropical surroundings.

Majority of the Maldives population are Sunni Muslims, which more can be learnt about in the Islamic Centre in Male, free to enter outside of prayer times. The Sultan Park and National Museum are also fabulous to visit to get a feel for the local culture, as well as fishing, which is a huge part of Maldivian national heritage.
