Review: Etihad First Class Lounge, Abu Dhabi
If you’re not first you’re last…
If you’re lucky enough to travel in First Class or have thought about treating yourself to the premium lounge experience we are here to tell you – DO IT.
Never have we thought “It’s so disappointing our layover is so short”…until now.
Etihad have redefined luxury and the way you remember your travel. Gone are the days of dreaded airport stays and the longing to get to your final destination. With sensational spa treatments, world class dining and a sleep zone, you’ll no longer be in a rush to catch your connecting flight.
We all know that a few drinks can help make your next flight far more relaxing, especially if you’re sipping on a Brut, Champagne 2006 or a delightful Rose, Champagne 2006; and these are just two of the superb selections available at the opulant timber bar, complete with every type of liqueur imaginable and finished off with a brilliant mixologist. Expect 5 star bar, seated or lounge service with any concoction only a few minutes away. If you’re struggling to pick your particular poison, choose from the brilliant sommelier selection – think wines from France, Argentina, Italy and even our neighbours in New Zealand, or a highly sort after Negroni or Whisky Sour to really enjoy your holiday.
The Etihad First Class Lounge has everything you could desire, from white table cloth fine dining, to lounge service or mini buffet. With world class chefs working around the clock to deliver you delicious and meticulously presented dishes, you cannot help but develop an increased appetite. You will be presented with a tastefully crafted menu inspired from an array of international cuisines. Of course a standout is the Meze Plate, served with smooth and creamy hummus, a refreshing take on baba ganoush, beef kibbe ball, falafel and pita bread – the perfect light dish which should be accompanied by a glass of wine and polished off with a cheese board. Something a little less traditional but surprisingly delightful are the Momo’s in Broth with a Peanut Dipping Sauce. Everything is superb in flavour, the only downside is that you’ll wish the portions were bigger!
SIX SENSES SPA
One of the absolute highlights of the lounge – the Six Senses Spa is one to experience. Be sure to book in a massage from the treatments menu, from neck and back therapies to full body massage. The best thing is, all First Class Lounge guests are entitled to a complimentary 15 minute massage of your choice. The massage therapists are professional, highly skilled and know exactly how to restore your post-flight discomforts. Peaceful music, oils and incense make for the perfect lounge relaxation. Shorter style treatments will have you kneeling on very comfortable massage chair, whilst therapeutic treatments will offer a full relaxation experience.
One of the most important features for any lounge are the shower facilities on offer. It’s the opportunity you have to completely unwind and refresh from your journey. Be sure to book in a shower appointment early, particularly if the lounge is quite busy. The friendly staff will provide you a buzzer which will alert you when the shower is available. The bathrooms are perfect in size, offering you a large shower, basin and toilet, hair dryer, towels and unlimited soap, shampoo and conditioner. High ceilings, marble tiles and silver finishes take the bathroom to an opulent and modern experience.
RELAX AND RECLINE
The first class lounge is not short of lounges… with multiple stylish areas available for you to unwind and relax. The modern and spacious leather single lounges scatter the space, accompanied by charging stations for smartphones and adapters. For those who are tired and would prefer to indulge in a comfortable sleep, the First Class Relaxation area is an absolute must. A sleek row of leather recliner chairs stand at attention to a stunning span of large screens showcasing gentle and moody-moving colours, maps and stars to invoke the utmost feeling of peace and relaxation. The recliners can extend to complete flat beds to aid your perfect sleep. The room is also closed off by soundproof sliding doors for privacy.
CIGAR & COGNAC ROOM
The First Class Lounge even has the the ultimate man cave. Dark and leather clad interiors lure you into the moody relaxation hub, only to be enticed with a delectable array of Whisky and cigars on offer. If you’re a cigar fan, this is the perfect escape.
If you’d like to get your body moving you can do so in style at the First Class Lounge Gym. With an assortment of gym equipment including treadmills, bikes, cardio machines and free-weights on offer you’ll be spoilt for choice. Towels and in-room showers are also available to ensure your experience is as comfortable as possible.
Not only does the Etihad First Class Lounge provide an airport oasis through quality dining and experiences, but through the professionalism and friendliness of their staff.
