4 Country NSW Festivals To Attend This Winter

Sydney, it’s about time we embrace the winter, for it is already here!

Considering a quick weekend getaway with friends or family? We know, it’s a hard decision to make with so many choices out there. So how about work it around a festival and make your decision a little easier? We’ve found four pretty amazing gigs to check out this winter, all in country NSW. The decision is now in your hands.

Winter Fire Festival, Orange

Winter Fire Festival showcases Orange and its surrounding villages at its winter best. This year’s festival will take guests on a journey of bonfire events, char-grilled feasts, campfire cooking, boutique shopping, award-winning wine, arts and crafts, and artisan makers. It also sees the inclusion of the popular Orange Readers and Writers Festival, featuring author Meg Keneally (Monsarrat and Fled). What a perfect opportunity for booklovers to enjoy a weekend of ‘fireside reading’.

Bathurst Winter Festival

It’s been known to snow in Bathurst, so it really can be a winter wonderland. Throw on some warm clothes and jet west of Sydney for three hours to find yourself at Bathurst for their annual Bathurst Winter Festival. It showcases a Vivid-style light up of prominent buildings in the town, along with markets on Saturday nights selling craft beer, mulled wine and gourmet eats. Entertainers will roam the streets, while carnival rides will help perk those cheeks. Oh, and there’s the ice rink, too!
