Steal These Street Style Trends To Stay Ahead Of The Fashion Game This Autumn

We hate to be the bearers of bad news guys, but summer is officially over and it’s time for the dreaded wardrobe overhaul.

You know what I’m talking about, that awful time of year when you pull out your clothes for the cooler months only to realise you have absolutely. nothing. to. wear.

Never fear, we are here with the top trends fresh off the streets of fashion month, to save you from a panicked-late-night Iconic order after one too many glasses of vino and a “wtf am I going to wear to work tomorrow!?” moment.

We’ve even included ready-to-shop links to some of our favourite looks. Just call us your fashionable fairy godmother!

1. Pastel Suits

If black, white and grey are your hue’s of choice you may want to look away now. Turning the tables on the traditional suit, the streets of fashion’s major capital cities have been awash with pastel-coloured suits. Popular colours have been bright mints, lush pinks, and a softer take on Pantone’s 2018 Colour of the Year, Ultra Violet. As often goes in fashion, though, the best way to rock this trend is to make it your own. The only rule: make it bright.

2. Checks

The ‘Burberry Effect’ isn’t going anywhere anytime soon if street style sets are anything to go by (and they are). Highlighted this year at shows like Balenciaga and Victoria Beckham, this versatile trend can take you from work to the weekend and can be worn just about any way you like; from the traditional coat, to blazers and tailored trousers, or jumpsuits and skirts. We are so glad the word is finally out: it’s cool to be square.

3. Matrix Glasses

You’ve probably seen them on the likes of Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Rihanna. And you’ve definitely thought “I could never pull that off!” Well think again because these Matrix-inspired slimline glasses are making their way into stores and you should totally jump on the trend. The look was seen all over the streets of New York and then confirmed at Alexander Wang’s Matrix-inspired CEO collection. Whilst this may be a controversial look, one thing’s for sure: the smaller the better in 2018.

4. Red

We’ve been seeing red across the streets of New York, London, Milan, and Paris this season and have red-flagged the trend just for you. This show-stopping colour may seem daunting at first but there are many ways to incorporate the shade into your look. Follow street style suit this Autumn with a bold head-to-toe red outfit. Alternatively, if you’re more of a subtler dresser, opt for splashes of red to liven up any outfit. Go on: paint the town!

5. The Beret

This tres-chic style has been keeping heads warm all over the globe this fashion month and we are so down for it. The trend made a major comeback last year when Dior models adorned the headwear down the runway. Luckily for us, we don’t have to miss out on account of living in the opposite seasons to the major fashion capitals, as the trend returned in full force this season. The cutest accessory to dress up an outfit, or the perfect solution for a bad hair day, we are secretly praying for some colder days. Our verdict: oui oui!
