Sydney’s biggest light festival is returning for it’s 19th year. To celebrate Vivid 2019, an array of restaurants in Sydney will be plunging into a pool of colour. From Friday 24 May through to Saturday 15 June, Sydney will be transforming into a live showcase of where art, technology, commerce, food and even delectable cocktails meet.
The Ternary Unlit
Start your Vivid celebrations with a visit to The Ternary’s Unlit experience. The one-night-only event will venture guests through an immersive, sensory dining experience with a six course degustation. Created especially for Vivid by Ternary’s culinary director, Anthony Flowers, expect everything from seared tuna with smoked eggplant puree and slow braised beef brisket to name a few. Throughout the duration of the event, dishes are paired with matching wines – all whilst enjoying front row sears of Darling Harbour.
Looking for a venue that caters for all this Vivid 2019? Look no further than The Glenmore in The Rocks. Sitting on Cumberland Street, the 1921 establishment will be lighting up this year thanks to UTS. This year, The Glenmore will be starting celebrations off with their annual Winter Party on Thursday 23 May. Of course, throughout the duration of Vivid The Glenmore will be showcasing their first ever in-venue lightshow thanks to animation students from UTS in 2016 – 2018. Inspired by the theme “Wabi-sabi”, The Glenmore is the perfect hideaway especially with their 180 degree views of Sydney Harbour.
Milk n Sugar Festival
Sydney, get ready for the sweetest, most colourful and tastiest dessert festival to return to our streets – Milk n Sugar Festival. A festival flocking all dessert enthusiasts for three days only! Expect creamy gelato from Cow & The Moon, scrumptious macarons from Arelio Sweetbox, light-up doughnut ice-cream cones from Hungary Bites, waffles on a stick from WaffleLand, monster-sized cookie sandwiches from The Hungry Brown Cow and even flurrito’s – a fairy floss burrito filled with ice-cream, froot loops and rainbow dust from Fluffy Crunch. Get ready to eat your way through these distinctive, light up and very delicious desserts!
Cruise Bar X Cointreau
Circular Quay’s much beloved Cruise Bar is undergoing a transformation in celebration for Vivid Sydney 2019. This year, Cruise Bar will be collaborating with French aperitif, Cointreau. From Friday 24 May through to Saturday 15 June Cruise Bar will be serving up a range of delectable cocktails all inspired by Cointreau and Vivid’s spectacular colourful palette. Guests can expect to enjoy traditional cocktail favourites like margarita’s, cosmopolitan’s and even mulled wine all infused with Cointreau’s renowned taste.
Chroma Dinner Mode Kitchen & Bar
Mode Kitchen & Bar’s Chroma Dinner can only be described simply as a fusion of delectable cuisine mixed with Vivid’s colourful, psychedelic world that’s excellently infused together. By enhancing the food experience, meals will venture guests through the dense jungle or the eccentric world in our ocean’s beautiful reefs. Chroma Dinner is a culinary experience is inspired by a unique range of colours, scents, sound and light through four courses all paired with cocktails reflecting RGB – essential to any imagery creation. This is one not to miss.
H.M.A.S Royal Archie
Welcome to Vivid 2019’s official bar and eatery that’s part of Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens walk for Vivid. Venturing through the meticulous gardens, guests will find their way to H.M.A.S Royal Archie. This fisherman’s wharf styled pop-up bar is the perfect pit-stop along your Vivid city travels. Stopping at this hideaway, similar to a step back in time, guests will be able to enjoy a range of colourful concoction cocktails including Harbour Rose featuring vodka, watermelon, citrus and pink lustre. For a warmer fix, opt for their hearty pot pie or a big bowl of mac ‘n’ cheese.
Darling Harbour’s newest restaurant and bar, Planar will be partaking for the first time ever in Sydney’s most renowned festival of lights, Vivid. Already renowned for their delicious, theatrical cocktails, Planar’s team of talented mixologists have created their very own colourful concoction in celebration of Vivid. Heading down to the Darling Harbour venue why not try their SPACELand Sphere – topped with an adventurous combination of vodka, rum, gin, peach liquor, blue curacao, grenadine, lemon and then finished with an ice sphere.
Celebrate Vivid with one of Sydney’s most renowned establishments, Q Dining. Located within the Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Harbour, throughout the duration of Vivid, Q Dining will be hosting a specially designed three-course set menu encapsulating the colourful, ecstatic and charismatic visions of Vivid. Upon arrival, guests will be treated to a glass of Perrier Jouet Champagne, next, they’ll be treated to scallops, crispy skin tooth fish and finally a mixed season berry pannacotta with pistachio sponge cake, native plum and passionfruit gel to finish.
Less than a touch away from Circular Quay, Bar Patrón will be lighting up this Vivid. From Friday 24 May through to Saturday 15 June, tequila enthusiasts will be flocking to Bar Patrón as their haven. Opt from their a la carte or their specially designed three-course Vivid set menu featuring some of the favourites from Bar Patrón. Everyday there’ll also be half price, classic margaritas and complimentary chips and salsa throughout happy hours. Why not indulge in their renowned Millionaire’s Margarita that’s topped with flakes of gold?
Celebrate Sydney’s festival of lights with the best views of Sydney Harbour! This Vivid 2019, Hacienda will be partaking with their very own showcase of colourful imagery through a limited edition cocktail menu – Tropical Glow. Inspired by Vivid’s lights, music and ideas, the cocktails created are accredited by Hacienda’s team of mixologists, guests can enjoy their newest Rojo Glow, Amarillo Flow and even Verde Glow – all with spectacular views of Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and their neighbouring Royal Botanical Gardens.
