A Hollywood Regency style bar that is serving frosé all day, everyday.

The newly revived Murray Street precinct welcomes its latest establishment, The Emerson Bar Perth.  The sprawling three-story pub set in the old Carnegies venue in the heart of Murray Street is serving up delicious cocktails, beer and gallons of pink wine.

Owners Brian Godfrey, Andrew Teasdale and Greg Harding are becoming known for taking on slightly tired and rundown venues and turning them around in a short space of time, so for them, the opportunity to revive such a landmark pub in Perth was too good to pass up.

“We greatly respect the heritage of Carnegies and its reputation for being a fun pub so we wanted to keep this feeling alive whilst reviving the tired interiors with a fresh and modern twist.  We also love the building itself, so we wanted to try and retain the integrity of the architecture and enhance its beauty by adding a sense of space, light and unique design.”

This Hollywood Regency style bar boasts a decedent interior, the first for the Perth pub and bar scene. The Emerson Bar Perth also provides a slightly different offering on each level. The ground level is a more casual breezy public bar, the mid level has a distinctly glamorous feel and offers a more intimate experience for dining (also doubling as a great space for private events), while the open-air rooftop has incredible views of the city.

Responsible for the interiors is designer, Renee Coleman, who is also behind the look of Sweetwater Bar. The sleek design has a colourful palette, with plush green velvet chairs, rich blue tones paired with dark wooden textures, and white, black and gold pairings that all create a look that is equal parts old-world and modern oasis.

While the three-tier bar stays open till 3am, Godfrey stresses the the venue isn’t a fine dining establishment, but more a space for people to come and enjoy good food, live music and a drink with friends.

Head Chef Tom Rushbrooke has devised a modern Australian menu with a cross-culinary flair that is simple and unpretentious. You’ll find Korean chicken sliders, prawn ceviche and Thai beef tacos all on the menu.

The drinks menu features fresh cocktails by the glass and pitchers, but best of all, the rooftop bar serves “Frosé All Day”: frozen rosé that is exclusive to the top level.
