Perth’s Best Events Australia Day 2020
What should you do in Perth this Australia Day 2020?
The long weekend is approaching, and having dragged ourselves through our post-Christmas blues, nothing feels better deserved than making the most of the long weekend to kick back and celebrate summer. Here’s our guide to the five best things to do in Perth this Australia Day.
Scarborough Beach Bar
Start your Australia Day festivities with two of Australia’s favourite things: the beach and brunch. Starting at 10:30 am, Scarborough Beach Bar will be transforming Perth’s Scarborough Beach into a mighty brunch extravaganza. Over the course of two hours, Scarborough Beach Bar will be offering guests a full menu, including a delicious Brunch Punch on arrival followed by granola with seasonal fruit, smashed avocado on toast, pancakes, bacon and egg burgers plus more. Opt for either the Virgin package or the Boozy option starting from $49pp. Plus, stick around for the DJ starting at midday.
Sitting right on the river, Perth institution Embargo Bar offers the best in waterside atmosphere with 360 degree views of the Swan River. On Australia Day they’ll be hosting a mammoth party with three stages, a silent disco, a selection of Perth’s greatest food trucks and even a Chandon Australia pop-up bar on the deck to help you get your fizz fix. Tickets start at $30 and include a complimentary gift and access all day. Plus, there’s no better place to catch a view of Perth’s famous fireworks.
The Peach Pit
Open all long weekend, The Peach Pit in Scarborough will be shaking things up this Australia Day. To end the long-drawn-out battles of who invented it first, this Australia Day long weekend The Peach Pit will be calling it theirs with their newest cocktail special: the Peach Pavlova Cocktail. But if the sweet isn’t your first choice, The Peach Pit will also be serving up $10 G&T slushies and cocktail Rumbull in the Jungle alongside their impressive range of tap beer or cider. While you’re there, feast on the Henny Penny ($19), chicken topped with a cornflake crumb, slaw, cheese and ranch sauce.
The Guildford Hotel
If there’s one thing Perth’s excelling in this Australia Day, it’s serving up adult versions of childhood favourites. Found just a touch away from Stirling Square, The Guildford Hotel will be serving up a legendary special: The Tim Tam Cob Loaf. That’s right. It’s a majestic creation combining an indulgent white cob embedded with a 100’s and 1000’s crust, packed with chocolate mousse and ganache and then topped with Oreo crumb, Tim Tams and a side of fairy bread for dipping. But if you’re not in the mood for a sweet treat, The Guildford Hotel also serves up a range of delectable bites including bao buns, burgers, Australian pub classics and more.
Found tucked away in the heart of Perth just a short walk from Perth Arena and Russell Square, Market Grounds will be hosting an Australia Day long weekend party like no other. Opening their doors from 11 am on both Sunday and Monday, Market Grounds will be serving up $14 Aperol Spritz from their menu including a classic, watermelon or strawberry flavour. Enjoy this in their pop-up Aperol Garden along with ping-pong games. While you’re there, be sure to dig into their delicious menu including Lamb Ribs ($17) and Pancetta ($22) wood-fired pizza to name a few.
