Good Food Month Melbourne has officially arrived for another year to bless the souls and stomachs of every Melbourne food lover out there.
Over the next 30 days, June will be filled with an array of different food derived events across the city – with everything from Brunch with Josh Niland, to a Pasta Party and even a dining in the dark experience at Burma Lane.
Definitely keep your eyes out for Melbourne Palms – a pop up, Palm Spring’s inspired restaurant up at the Federation Square Car Park Rooftop. This is a new, intimate and revolutionary experience and will be home to various events throughout the month.
Hunter and Bligh have graciously put together a guide for every Melbournian to eat their way through Good Food Month. So get eating!
Noir Friday Lunch
Known for their exquisite contemporary French dining, Noir in Richmond is taking part in Good Food Month with a three-course lunch every Friday throughout the month of June. Partnering up with Peter Lehmann wines; guests will be able to enjoy a selection of snacks, a choice of a main course and a tasting plate of their petit fours (bite-sized confectionary or savoury appetizer).
Highline at the Railway Hotel
Renowned Chef, Simon Tarlington has taken inspiration from Australian classical dishes and ingredients throughout history. Like a screenshot throughout the decades, the menu takes its resemblance from the 1860’s to the 1980’s. The dinner itself was a catalyst from Jan O’Connell’s book ‘A Timeline of Australian Food.’ The night will be accompanied by Sommelier Eric Wagnon’s wine and the Author behind the book itself.
Ellis Street Studio
The second installment in the Nice to Eat Dinner Series, Ellis Street Studio will be proudly hosting a one night only event. Guests will be travelling through seven courses taking heavy inspiration from modern French cuisine with optional watching wines. Behind the scenes, Romu Oudeyer will be delicately creating each course based off his learning from working in Michelin-starred restaurants in France. Keep your eye out for the Flinders Island lamb rump!
Red Spice Road
For one night only, guests will be transformed into a bustling hawker market. It will be more than just a food derived event. Melbournians will be familiar with Red Spice Road and their record over the past 10 years, so be prepared for the colourful stalls, street fighters, martial art demonstrations and live music. Dairy free, gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options are available too. This is a party and food event like no other – get in quick!
Brunch with Josh Niland
Brunch will never be the same after this, so be warned! Hosted by Hatted Chef, Josh Niland – brunch connoisseur; the two hour event at Melbourne Palms will have nothing in the likes of avocado on toast. Expect Aged Mooloolaba Albacore, Double Smoked Broadbill Bacon and even a Crumbed Fish Sandwich. Of course, brunch isn’t brunch without a bit of spice. Guests will be able to choose between Rosé or Pimm’s.
Date Night with 8bit and Glacé Frozen
Sitting under the stars, cuddled up to your date and feasting your eyes on a juicy 8bit burger is definitely love at first sight. Teaming up with Glacé Frozen, date night will never be the same. Watching The Breakfast Club, you and your special someone can dig into a variety of burgers accompanied by waffle fries and a choc top. In the famous words of heartthrob John Bender “all the food groups are represented.”
Cutler & Co
For one night only in June, Cutler & Co in Fitzroy will be hosting a drink loving, cocktail enthusiast event like no other. With two sittings at 6pm and 8:30pm, guests will be able to experience and enjoy a flight of four intricate and meticulously created cocktails all paired with a bar snack created by Cutler & Co. Joining Good Food Month, Cutler & Co is known for their minimalist décor and blasé yet welcoming approach.

Sharing the kitchen for one night only, they’ll be serving an indulgent four-course dinner with the freshest pasta and matching wine. Burma Lane Dining in the Dark
Your taste buds will be put to the test with Burma Lane’s Dining in Dark dinner event. Blindfolded and fed is a concept we can’t all ace – but, the aim is simple: discover the mysterious ingredients, as you devour and experience with other guests how the taste and flavours of each dish change throughout the meal. There’ll be confusion, laughs and a guaranteed great time while your palate is put to the challenge.
