Four Oktoberfest Events In Sydney

Clink those steins and let’s get drinking!

Here’s a fun fact: Oktoberfest began as a wedding celebration between Bavaria’s Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on 12 October 1810. Today, it’s predominately celebrated as a way to welcome in the coming month of October. And for Sydney, we began celebrating it the moment Germans came to our shores. This year, we’ve got four of the best Oktoberfest events to attend in Sydney. So here goes!

Oktoberfest in the Gardens

Welcome Oktoberfest at the largest event of its kind in Sydney. Oktoberfest in the Gardens features two massive beer halls, authentic German food stalls, roaming performers, a sideshow alley, a silent disco and an eclectic mix of entertainment and competitions across multiple stages throughout the afternoon and evening. Make the most of a perfect afternoon.

Munich Brauhaus

Munich Brauhaus will bring October in with a four-week packed-out extravaganza. The event kicks off on Saturday 21 September with a ceremonial tapping of the first Oktoberfest beer keg at 1pm, followed by a lively parade featuring colourful performers, costumed entertainers and traditional live music. From there, it’s a feast of epic proportions.

The German Club

Head on down to Wollongong for a wild Oktoberfest weekend at The German Club. It will be their 30th Oktoberfest this year. Think German dance groups, authentic German entertainment, and plenty of competitions to take part in. We should also mention there will be plenty of beer to swig on. And if you’ve got kids, bring them along on Sunday for family day.
