Quenching Sydney’s wine thirst since 2006.

Fix Wine Bar & Restaurant, nestled between the shopping district and Sydney’s thriving finance and legal industry, is one of the city’s best-kept secrets. Yes, even though it’s located on bustling Elizabeth Street, it’s easy to miss the slender and sophisticated venue.

The 60-seater mezzanine bar is sleek, styled with warm timber, black leather and hanging lightbulbs, all against a purple and black brush stroke mural. Bottles of wine line the back wall, foreshadowing the impressive 250+ wine list tastefully curated by the owner and acclaimed sommelier, Stuart Knox. Each drop has been hand-picked from the best local and global wines, from small – often family-run – vineyards.

However, the wine selection isn’t the only impressive element of Fix. The word ‘restaurant’ features in the name of the venue for a reason, and that’s because they know food. And they know it well.

With menus printed daily, guests will find a variety of delicious meals on offer, dependant on the freshest produce available. Of course, there are crowd favourites which have a permanent residency at Fix, and for good reason. An absolute must-try is the Peking Duck Spring Roll ($21). The dish is best described as a marriage between confit and Peking roast duck, which is then wrapped in pastry and deep fried, and finally served in a small pool of red curry sauce. Packed with punch, each bite is the perfect mix of crunch, meatiness and flavour. The next to try is the Warm Halloumi Salad, Roast Tomato Vinaigrette ($15) with four slices of grilled halloumi heaven and topped with perfectly sweet roasted tomatoes. Simple and delicious.

For something a little heartier, you simply can’t go past the XO Prawn & Chinese Sausage Omelette ($33). The FLUFFIEST, creamiest, yet lightest omelette you’ll ever eat. Succulent prawns and rich Chinese sausage are decadently poured over the omelette, creating the sensational dish. Our tip, pair it with the Broccolini with Chilli ($12) for the perfect crunch.

But what’s a wine bar without a wine recommendation? And you’ll never be short of that at Fix Wine Bar & Restaurant. No matter your wine preference, the team at Fix have got you covered. One recommendation, that we needed to share, is a particular rosé. Whether you’re a fan of rosé or not, you are sure to be a fan of this drop: Esprit Gassier, Côtes de Provence, France 2017 ($15 per glass). A rosé that is crisp and full of flavour – the perfect accompaniment to your meal.

Whether you’re looking for a quick wine stop, a work lunch or casual dining with fine dining flavours, you can’t go wrong with Fix Wine Bar & Restaurant.
