Cocktail Hunter: Early Riser
Cocktail Hunter is back, and with a treat.
After a few weeks break, Cocktail Hunter has come back with a mean tan and a serious passion for summery-cocktails. We’re under the impression he/she spent a significant amount of time beach side (or poolside) with a never ending flow of cocktails in hand. We’re a little bit jealous.
On Cocktail Hunter’s first day back in the office, he/she popped down to the beautiful people at Bar Patrón by Rockpool. They too returned with enviable tans and dreams of summer cocktails. The team, in all their genius, told Cocktail Hunter about this bad boy, the Early Riser. Despite common belief, an Early Riser isn’t an all bad thing. For one, this Early Riser has tequila – and there’s nothing bad about tequila (except maybe the hangover…?).
Served in a tall glass with a punch and a pow-wow peppery kick, the Early Riser is the type of cocktail you’d order after a long day a work. A firecracker sort of cocktail, the Cocktail Hunter seems to think the Early Riser is best paired, post work, with Chicken Quiles – fried chicken wings drowning in Adobo sauce, perhaps with a side of guac and chips. We tend to agree.
Better take note.
- 30ml Patrón Silver
- 10ml Mescal
- 40ml orange juice
- 20ml lime juice
- 20ml passionfruit syrup
- 20ml pomegranate port
Starting with your passionfruit syrup, add each ingredient to a tall glass. Pour in a handful of ice cubs and ‘swirl’ the mix together. Finally, top the creation with port. We’d recommend garnishing with a slice of orange.
