Are we the only ones who think craft beer brewing should be a national sport?
Breweries are well-scattered around this great southern land, giving local pubs and bars the chance to sell a unique selection of liquid gold. The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) is no different, boasting its own gang of passionate brewers. Those pollies in parliament need to knock off work sometime!
In correlation with Beer Cartel’s 2018 awards, here are Hunter and Bligh’s Best Craft Beer Breweries in the ACT:
Bentspoke Brewing Co.
Bentspoke draws its inspiration from the name it was given and the location it set itself upon. The politicians on the hill make the rules, and rules are meant to be bent, sometimes. Their locale brews and serves up to 18 beers at any one time, from cider and lager to your darker varieties, and even a gluten-free ginger beer!
Capital Brewing Co.
Despite the name, Capital Brewing Co. much prefers to let the pollies do their own thing and focus on the sprawling wilderness that the ACT offers. Their brews capture the local environment, from the mountaintops to the valleys that slice through the beautiful terrain. If you’re looking for good vibes and good times, have a tipple at Capital Brewing.
Wig & Pen Tavern & Brewery
Wig and Pen is one of Canberra’s first microbreweries, offering up to 16 beers all brewed in-house. They host regular events for the local community (and the odd politician looking for a quick escape), including their famous Darkfest held during the winter solstice, serving up their best selection of dark ales.
Zierholz Premium Brewery
Hallo Canberra! Lust auf ein Bier? Well, look no further than Zierholz Premium Brewery, serving up a wunderbar selection of German-inspired beer for your yearning taste buds. They have beers to clink and drink with your friends or to help you mellow out after a hard day’s work.
Pact Beer Co.
Pact Beer Co. is a recent invention, where three friends in 2015 shared an agreement to brew tasty beer. Their style of making sits upon a foundation that has been set from thousands of years of beer making. A selection of their top brews have won various prizes and medals, which shows how strong a pact can be.
