Sydney Creeped Out By Red Balloons

Drains around Sydney were tied with red balloons this morning on September 4 to promote the new IT movie, leaving pedestrians a little uneasy.

“When I saw it the first time, I thought it was for a wedding or something,” says passerby Conny Mueller. “And then you read [the words on the ground] and you get it.”

Another passerby who was on her way to work, Anita Young, says the creepy advertising is “pretty cool.”

“It’s quite a good way to get people’s attention, people would have noticed the balloon more than some of the billboards.

“It didn’t occur to me that it was gonna be creepy ‘cause it was on the ground.”

As well as Martin Place seeing these creepy red balloons, social media posts show other places have been attacked.

It is closer than you think. #itmovie #sydney #roadshow #coffeebreak time after this little activation
