What is it? Bugatti’s reincarnation of the Type 57 SC Atlantic

How much? If you were the lucky individual who could afford the 1 of 1 creation…$27.6 million AUD

Starting with the La Voiture Noir is a bit unfair, as it has already been sold – there was only one ever in production.

The rein’car’nation of Jean Bugatti’s Type 57 SC Atlantic (only of which four were ever produced) that mysteriously went missing during transportation, in the early 20th century. Bugatti has taken its Chiron and that iconic quad turbo charged W16 engine, and extended the wheel base by 250mm, lowered the roofline, with a sleek and raked windshield, and a longer hood.

Emulating the iconic design of the Type 57 Atlantic; with six exhaust exits, wide fenders and a sloping rear, including the centre division, with a light strip running down the entire length of the car; this is some revival indeed.

How much does it cost to bring back a missing Bugatti? A record breaking $27.6 million Australian dollars, making this Bugatti, the most expensive new car ever produced.

Koenigsegg Jesko

What is it? Koiensegg’s 500km/h step up in the hypercar game

How much? Estimated $6 million AUD

Following the tremendous success of the Agera, which in its RS guise, holds the world record for the fastest production car, clocking in at 446.97km/h.

So how do you top that? Well, you name a car after your father, who helped you found the very company that is raising the performance bar miles above the competition.

The Jesko features a twin turbo charged V8 producing 1193kW and 1500Nm of torque running on E85 bio fuel. A proud statement that the Swedish car manufacturer can make, is that everything developed, is done ‘in-house’, ensuring that Koenigsegg can keep leading the industry and pushing the envelope on road legal hyper cars.

The distinction that the new Jesko has from its predecessor is a new 9 speed earbox, featuring several clutches that can seamlessly shift from first gear to ninth, in what appears to be one shift- allowing the Jesko to push over 500km/h, when it can have another crack at beating the company’s own record.

Expect to see some rolling around here in Australia, with two already spoken for at $6 million Australian dollars each!


Ferrari F8 Tributo

What is it? Ferrari’s new staple, mid-engine V8 supercar

How much? Expect it to land close to $500,000 AUD, far more affordable than the Bugatti or Koenigsegg

Now onto the ‘everyday’ supercar for you and me, the Ferrari F8 Tributo. Named in such a way as to pay tribute to the award-winning V8 motor Ferrari has been putting in their supercars, for decades.

The Tributo is the successor to the 488, taking inspiration from the more aggressive 488 Pista in regards to its aerodynamic styling. Far more aggressive in design than that of the 488, the F8 Tributo pumps out 522kW and 770Nm of torque from the twin-turbocharged V8, and blast onto 100km/h in 2.9 seconds!

New quad tail lights and the new slats in the engine cover (inspired from the F40), and the overall improvement from the 488, are ticking all the right boxes to see this Ferrari as another dream car for many, and an impressive tour de force on the raceway.


Aston Martin Vanquish Vision Concept

What is it?: Aston’s move away from GT cars; into the mid-engine supercar segment

How much? Expect it to be priced from $450,000 AUD in the near future.

Aston put on quite a show at Geneva this year, moving away from its front engine GT supercars, to more aggressive mid-engine supercars and hypercars designed to call in the new age of Aston.

With the new Valkyrie in pre-production guise, even fitted with the Cosworth V12 engine, new AM-RB 003 and the Valkyrie all on show, it’s the Vanquish I wanted to focus on in particular.

This is Aston’s attempt at taking over the mid-engine supercar segment, featuring a hybrid 3.0-lite twin-turbocharged V6, this supercar is predicted to put out near 600kW. Partnering up with Red Bull Racing, Aston has created a unique platform which essentially makes this a street legal F1 car.

Looking a bit more substantial and less lightweight in comparison to the far more expensive AM-RB 003 and the Valkyrie, the new Vanquish is set to take on McLaren and Ferrari as a third contender, with Formula 1 inspired development in its blood.


Mercedes AMG GT R Roadster

What is it? A limited run drop top of the beast from the green hell.

How much is it? Expect it to crest $400,000 AUD

To wrap up our top 5 most exciting cars at the Geneva Motor Show, it has to be the AMG GTR roadster.

As much as I wanted to include the new Lamborghini SVJ Roadster and the Huracan Spyder, I thought I’d include a unicorn in the world of AMG.

The last time AMG released a roadster, was the SLS AMG, which arrive here in Australia in very limited numbers, but never saw the release of the more hardcore version, the Black Series, in roadster form.

Fast forward to 2019, and we now have the AMG GTR, the more hardcore and track-focused version of the AMG GT, in roadster form. It’s been a long while since we’ve seen a roadster from Mercedes, with a front-mid engine layout and retaining the large wing over the rear end.

Jaw dropping in styling, this GT car is now not only enjoyed at the track, but also hugging those tight coastal roads, or that sunny alpine way.

Expect it to crest the $400,000 AUD mark, as this model is limited to 750 cars worldwide.
