Bars March is back for the 10th year in a row – here are five Melbourne bars joining in for a great cause!
Concrete Boots Bar
Come and enjoy one of Richmond’s neighbourhood bars, Concrete Boots. Concrete Boots serves up a range of food and drinks that are both classic and inventive. Delicious burgers meet the more unusual like tempura battered fried Pickle chips ($10) plus more to satisfy every tastebud. Some classic cocktails and craft beers make up the drinks menu, but make sure to try the Pink Pooch Punch especially made for Bars March! Get over by the end of the month for a great cause, and bring your dog, they’re welcome there too!
Entering its 15th year on the Melbourne bar scene, Golden Monkey is a must this March. Decorated to look like a decadent Shanghai early 20th century opium den, with a drinks list to match, Golden Monkey definitely stands out from the crowd. You can indulge in classic or house made specialty cocktails, complimented by handmade steamed dumplings and delicious bao. Golden Monkey is proudly once again joining Bars March with a special Chocolate Labrador cocktail.
Madame Brussels is a drinking establishment quite unlike any other – complete with a rooftop terrace, pink walls and meticulous picket fences. The lovely cocktail list and great snacks (try a cupcake or the Chicken Drumettes ($14) with honey soy dressing) are worth stopping by for, and make sure to try the Warner’s Rhubarb Sour, a drink as pretty as the venue, and 50 per cent of the drinks cost is donated! Come for a boozy afternoon and bring your dog, they’re invited too.
The Newmarket Hotel
This wonderful venue perfectly blends modern and vintage to create an effortlessly cool space. Head over for brunch, lunch or dinner to enjoy their wonderful selection of fresh pub classics – all with a modern twist. With 15 beers and ciders on tap as well as an extensive wine list there is something for everyone. For Bars March, The Newmarket Hotel has gone all out with Puppy Parma Tuesdays! Treat your pooch to a small chicken schnitzel topped with shaved ham and bocconcini, duck and tumeric dog treat chips and a chicken, rice and vegetable kibble salad. Treat your dog for $5, with $1 going to another dog in need.
The Tipsy Cow Malt & Vine Co.
The Tipsy Cow lets you know straight up that it is a VERY dog friendly whisky, wine and cocktail lounge. Think cosy leather seating, wholesome pizza and pasta, and a very lengthy drinks list. Given their animal lover status, it’s not surprising The Tipsy Cow Malt Vine & Co have teamed up with Bars March to help some animals in need. Try their Antagonist Gin cocktail for $12, where $2 per drink goes to the Save a Dog charity.
