Shackled with flavour, the Scottish Highlands most favourable whisky reminds us that the valley of consequences never tasted so good.
Found a sip away from Scotland’s north-east coastline, along the Glendronach Burn in Forgue, The GlenDronach Distillery has been fermenting some of the finest whisky beverages since 1826.
Claiming its place amongst Scotland’s first licensed distilleries, today, almost 200 years on, GlenDronach has been counselling the whisky industry and whisky lovers with the finest drops.
Tucked within the east Highland Hills whisky district, GlenDronach sources its ingredients for its distinct hazel coloured liquid goodness from local producers. Drinkers will be proud to know that The GlenDronach Distillery favours its homeland by using the Glendronach Burn as their main water source and inspiration behind its iconic name.
The distinct saxophone shaped stills and distillation pots have been busy producing the complex and full-bodied taste behind the iconic brand. Paired with their traditional and long maturation process through their distinct Spanish oak sherry casks, since its founding in 1826 by James Allardice, today GlenDronach continues to use this same tradition.
Known as the masters of sherry cask maturation, the favourable GlenDronach taste is accredited to the casks sourced from Andalucia, Spain. These sherry casks, oloroso and pedro ximenex enable the embedded flavours of the fruity, nutty and intensely rich casks to then ignite the taste of every drinker’s sip.
By uniting Highland spirit and taste alongside the flavoursome Spanish sherry casks sees GlenDronach craft a complex, textured and expressive long palatable taste. The GlenDronach 21 Year Old Parliament Single Malt Scotch Whisky sees tasters embarking on a journey through the satisfying and robust flavours of Highland single malts all with great finesse, grace and elegance.
With master blender Rachel Barrie behind the scenes, there’s no denying that GlenDronach knows a thing or two about Scottish whisky. With an extraordinary career within the whisky industry that stretches over 25 years, after graduating in chemistry from Edinburgh University, today, Rachel’s impressive portfolio also includes BenRiach and Glenglassaugh.
Colour – richly sherried with an elegant robust colour.
Nose – a delicate mix of ripe autumnal fruits such as blackberries and red plums, the 21 Year Old Parliament carries notes of candied orange, spiced oatmeal biscuits as well as toasted oak fragrances creating a favourable balance.
