Are you Australian? Do you love whisky? Well, we’ve got some exciting news for you.
It takes almost 20 hours, 15,182 kilometres and a bumpy ride through Scotland’s highlands to source a drop of the finest, rarest and most exclusive GlenDronach whisky. But now, thanks to The Whisky List, Australian whisky lovers, collectors and drinkers will have the pleasure of purchasing the newest vintage that’s conveniently sent directly to your front door.
As of late July, Australia has been graced with 659 bottles of GlenDronach’s 1993 26 Year Old Single Cask #392 – a blend specially selected and exclusively bottled for Australia’s premium online whisky boutique service, The Whisky List.
Hand-selected by GlenDronach’s master blender, Dr Rachel Barrie, this luxurious and rare selection was chosen as 2019’s limited release cask bottling. Each year, Rachel chooses a handful of individual casks containing a single malt whisky which developed under a longer maturation process.
With an ABV of 51.0%, GlenDronach’s 1993 Single Cask is described as charismatic with a perfect balance of GlenDronach’s distillery characteristics as well as the flavours imparted by the cask which was previously oloroso sherry.
Hazelnut in colour with a sweet nose of strawberry preserve, burnt orange zest, sandalwood and honeycomb, GlenDronach 1993 26 Year Old Single Cask #392 on the palate is potent with red liquorice, orange zest, oloroso, pepped apple and bramble. With a long, lingering and warming finish, the Single Cask #392 leaves the mouth with a warm richness with layers of sweetness and a subtle spice surprisingly transforming after each taste.
1993 was a year when the most popular toy was a talkman. It brought us Jurassic Park, Mrs Doubtfire, Nightmares & Dreamscapes by Stephen King and Nirvana’s In Utero. Over 9,664 days after its distillation on 12 February 1993, GlenDronach released their 1993 Single Cask – a tribute to the year, but most importantly GlenDronach’s taste and traditions.
So whether you’re a fan of 1993, or you simply enjoy collecting and tasting your way through limited release whiskies; with only 659 bottles available until sold out entirely, GlenDronach’s 1993 26 Year Old Single Cask #392 is the ultimate investment. And trust us when we say that this a limited edition – there won’t be a Groundhog Day.
