Cosette is closing the gap in designer fashion
Bringing coveted, high-end luxury to Australia at discounted prices, Cosette is a one of a kind retailer making luxury accessible.
After launching in late 2014, Cosette is already reshaping the way Australia buys luxury goods. With brands like Gucci, Prada, Celine and Saint Laurent, Cosette is paving the way for Australian luxury via its online store, and three chic Sydney stores based at The Rocks, MLC, Double Bay
A premium destination for authentic designer products, Cosette capitalises on inverse seasons with European fashion houses, taking advantage to ensure stock is heavily discounted making it affordable and accessible for the Australian market.
Breaking the formal buying process, Cosette’s team of experienced buyers purchase in-season stock at the end of the European winter and summer seasons, allowing Cosette to pass on the discounted European prices on current Australian styles.
Born and bred in Paris, founder of Cosette France Colignon, saw a huge gape in the Austrlian luxury market. Having worked in the fashion industry in Paris for many years, and with an italian heritage, Colignon was surrounded by artists and designers and grew a love for the industry. It was from travelling back and forth between Sydney, she was shocked with the limited selection of high-end fashion available to Australians, compared to what is accessible in Europe.
France Colignon, Founder of Cosette
Colignon says the gap is likely due to the lack of density in population, and that Australia is still somewhat isolated from the European luxury market. She says “In Europe, it’s easy to shop for affordable designer fashion in private sales or outlets, which we don’t have in Australia.”
This sparked her inspiration for Cosette, and after settling down in Sydney, Colignon says “the Australian way of life is extremely inspiring, motivating and relaxing.”
As the buyer, Colignon selects each product the store retails, “buying as a Parisian in Sydney” to ensure the styles available and overall feel of the store maintains it’s luxurious European flair.
It took Colignon all of six months to register the name, to setting up the website and the first store, in Sydney’s Martin Place. Though the online aspect of the website is important, Colignon says having the retail stores sits within the branding of making luxury accessible, meaning people can come in and feel and try the products. It also means shoppers can style an outfit and try it on, something which isn’t available online.
Cosette will also be relocating from their current store in The Rocks, to a much larger space next door which will also offer Duty Free which is great news for travellers. And is also in the process of opening the online business to the international markets.
As a membership based retailer, signing up with just their name and email address with give shoppers access to further discounts, plus a newsletter with deals, sales and style inspiration. Cosette have also partnered with PayPal to offer a secure three-month layby option to instill that they are a brand driven to ensuring luxury to all.
On top of being just a retailer, Cosette also offers quick and reliable customer service with complimentary servicing, plus cleaning of any products purchased online or in-store, and a courier option, really setting the Cosette brand apart.
