Crack The Glenlivet Whisky Code
If you don’t have enough self-determination for Dry July, then check out this upcoming whisky! Or, you could just buy it and wait until August 1, up to you.
2,000 bottles of The Glenlivet’s newest upcoming release will drift onto Australian shores mid-July, giving enthusiasts the chance to crack its code. This limited edition single scotch malt whisky will be introduced without cask information or tasting notes, treating discerning tipplers to its mysterious taste. Only 10,000 bottles have been made worldwide.
The Glenlivet Master Distiller, Alan Winchester, crafted The Glenlivet Code using fresh techniques and new, specially curated casks. The result is an innovative and unique whisky that stays true to the brand’s smooth and fruity notes while presenting an entirely new flavour journey.
Alan says the bottle showcases the truly unique opportunity of creating a whisky that pushes the boundaries.
“The Glenlivet Code is a mystery, concealed in a labyrinth of secret flavours within its jet-black bottle,” Alan says. “We’re excited to invite whisky fans to challenge their senses as they try to unlock The Code’s tasting notes and discover a moment of definitive pleasure”.
Every bottle features a code on the back which the bottle owner can scan using the Shazam app. From there, they’ll embark on a digital journey hosted by Alan Winchester himself and inspired by the iconic British code breakers of Bletchley Park.
Then, with their glass of whisky in hand, the drinker will be able to select four aromas for the nose, four flavours for the palate and the intensity of each – ultimately choosing from thousands of possible combinations that make up The Code. At the end of the challenge, drinkers will be given a score based on how well their tasting choices match the tasting notes of Winchester and ranked in a global leader board.
The mystery will be revealed internationally at the end of 2018. Until then, participants wanting to crack the code can enter the digital game as many times as they please.
The Glenlivet Code (ABV 48%) will be sold exclusively at Dan Murphy’s from July 16 for RRP $220.00. To find out more about the game, visit www.TheGlenlivet.com.
